Breeding Japanese Quail
1 male for 2-3 feamales during breeding season. One square foot makes a great home for a pair of quail. Keep Japanese Quail on a high protin feed (25%-30% protin) Hens under 14 hours of light ( natural or artifical daily) will lay eggs once they are 6-8 weeks old. Gather eggs daily, and keep them stored a cool place, before incubation. Also remember, adding new blood lines will also increase fertility.
Sexing Adult Quail
This sexing method is only for cotrunix quail and red cotrunix quail. The female will have a spotted chest, the male will have a chest with out spots.

Other sexing methods,
Males have a cloacal gland, located at the upper edge of the vent which secretes a white, foamy material. Males will Begin to crow about 5 to 6 weeks of age. The crow is described the loudest sound the quail will make. Females can not make this sound.
